Starry, Starry Night

You pointed at the stars

And called them stars.

I stood, alert, Staring

Into the nameless night,

Blind with the dread

Of what could harm you.

I will teach you to survive,

If you will remind me how,

Under its ancient darkness,

The world aches, like us,

To be called by its name.
